Tale of Two Halves, Ravens Lose at #22 Butler 73-59

El Dorado, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team looked great in the first half against Butler but were not able to hold onto the lead in the second half and eventually lost 73-59 to the #18 ranked Grizzlies.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record fell to 9-13 including a 5-11 mark in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.

Coffeyville started the game out on fire, hitting 6-of-7 three-pointers early in the game to take a 25-8 lead roughly eight minutes into the game.  With nine minutes left in the first half, the Ravens held a 23-point 33-10 lead over the Grizzlies and went into halftime with a 15-point 37-22 halftime lead.

In the second half, the first half script was reversed.  Butler scored the first 12 points of the second half to cut the Raven lead down to just three points, 37-34.  Coffeyville surrendered the lead at the fourteen-minute mark of the second half and the Grizzlies outscored the Ravens 34-21 over the remaining fourteen minutes to defeat the Ravens 73-59.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included freshman guard Jahni Summers with 23 points and 7 rebounds and freshman forward CJ Smith with 10 points.

Coffeyville will return home with a matchup scheduled against the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Technical College on Wednesday, February 7th.  Tip-off in Nellis Hall is set for 7:30 p.m.
