#16 Red Ravens Stumble at Home Losing to #RV Butler 56-52

Coffeyville, Kan. - The #16 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball team broke their 11-game win streak with a 56-52 home loss to the #RV Butler Grizzlies.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 21-4 which includes a 16-4 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) mark.  The 16-4 conference mark currently has the Ravens in third place in the 13-team KJCCC Division I conference. 

With two evenly matched teams, the Ravens' game against the Grizzlies ended up being just what one would think: a close game.  However, Coffeyville found itself fighting from behind for most of the game. 

Butler pulled ahead after the first quarter leading 18-14 and held on for a 29-26 halftime lead over the Ravens.  Butler outscored Coffeyville by two in the third period and Coffeyville finished strong outscoring Butler by one in the final period, but it was not enough as Butler earned the 56-52 victory.

A glimpse at the stat sheet showed that Butler outrebounded the Ravens by 19 (47-28), however, Coffeyville had five fewer turnovers (12-17) than Butler.  Neither team shot the ball well with Coffeyville shooting 35% overall on the night compared to Butler's 36%.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore guards Norika Welch with 19 points and Karys Washington with 14 points.

Coffeyville will look to get back into the win column with a road game set for Pratt Kansas on Saturday, February 22nd.  Game time in Pratt is set for 2:00 p.m.
