Red Ravens Break Out with a 5-1 Victory over Dodge City

Dodge City, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team earned the first win of the season with a 5-1 victory over the Conquistadors of Dodge City.  With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 1-6-2 including a 1-4-1 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.

Dodge City jumped on the scoreboard quickly netting a goal barely three minutes into the match to take the early 1-0 lead.  The Ravens answered roughly twelve minutes later as a header by Raven freshman Andres Pereira off of a Diogo Gomes throw-in found the back of the net to knot up the match at 1-1.  Coffeyville netted their second goal of the match with just under ten minutes to go in the half.  Raven freshman Jacob Shaw took a nice pass moving to his right from sophomore Alaa Kodi and Shaw deposited the ball into the back of the net with his right foot to give the Ravens a 2-1 halftime lead.

The second half was all Ravens.  Ravens scored their third goal of the match off of a long pass from Coffeyville's Pereira to Raven freshman Miguel Basalic who used his left foot to net the goal past the goalkeeper into the left corner.  With just under ten minutes remaining, Coffeyville freshman Kanata Takahashi directed a pass on the end line to Andres Pereira who scored the goal, his second of the match, to the left corner past the Conquistador goalie to give the Ravens the 4-1 lead with barely under ten minutes to play.  Ravens' final score came off a penalty kick that Raven sophomore Kodi drilled to the left corner to give the Ravens the final 5-1 victory.

The Ravens will return to action on Saturday, September 28th with a match in Hillsboro Missouri against Jefferson College.  Kick-off in Hillsboro is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
