Coffeyville, Kan. - Behind Red Raven sophomore guard Karys Washington's 23 point 14 rebound double-double, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team defeated the Saints of Seward County 61-50 to advance to the Semifinal Round of the NJCAA Region 6 Division I Basketball Tournament. With the victory, the #20 NJCAA-ranked Red Ravens improved their 2025 season record to 25-5. #20 Coffeyville will match up against #9 Hutchinson in the Region 6 Semifinal round. The Red Ravens and the Blue Dragons are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14th in Gross Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays Kansas.
Coffeyville seemed in control throughout the contest, outscoring the Saints in three out of the four quarters. Coffeyville shot 40% overall from the field and an excellent 81% (18-22) from the free-throw line. The Ravens outrebounded Seward by 19 (46-27), which helped Coffeyville overcome the turnover deficit, as Coffeyville committed 21 turnovers to Seward's 10.
The game leaders for Coffeyville included Karys Washinton, who led the Red Ravens with a season-high 24 points and 14 rebounds, and sophomore guard Norika Welch, who scored 13 points.
