#RV Red Ravens Suffer a 64-63 Home Defeat vs #9 Cowley

Coffeyville, Kan. - In a back-and-forth contest against the #9 NJCAA-ranked Cowley Tigers, the #RV Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team found themselves on the wrong side of a 64-63 defeat.  With the loss, the Red Ravens head into the holiday break with an overall record of 10-3 including a 6-1 KJCCC conference mark.

In a change from the previous few games, Coffeyville opened the first half developing a lead while finishing the half on a 13-4 run to take a halftime lead of 32-24 over Cowley.

Cowley responded in the second half tying the game up at 47-47 with roughly ten minutes left in the game.

Two made free throws for Cowley put the Tigers ahead 64-59 with 2:20 left in the game.  In the last two minutes, Coffeyville converted a couple of free throws along with a two-point basketball to pull with the one-point 64-63 score.  After a Cowley shot clock violation, Coffeyville called a quick time-out with six seconds remaining in the game.  After the time-out, the Ravens ran a play for sophomore Justin Taylor who missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

Red Raven game leaders included Justin Taylor with 13 points, sophomore Charles Caporaso with 11 points, freshman Trenton Ruth with 10 points, and freshmen Kaason Thomas and Abdul Kuta both with 9 points.

Coffeyville will return to action after the holiday break with a road game scheduled in El Dorado Kansas against the Butler Grizzlies on Saturday, January 4th.  Tipoff in El Dorado is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
