Red Ravens Suffer a 72-69 Loss at Colby

Colby, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team traveled to Colby Kansas for a road Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchup against the Trojans of Colby Community College and lost a close one 72-69.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 8-9 on the season including a 4-7 mark in KJCCC games.

The first half of the game was strong for Coffeyville as the Ravens built an eleven-point 35-24 halftime lead.  However, the second half was a different story as Colby came out after halftime and quickly pulled back into the game outscoring the Ravens 22-10 over the first five minutes of the second half to take a 46-45 lead.  The remainder of the second half was a back-and-forth between the two teams as neither could pull away on the scoreboard.  Coffeyville's last lead came with a minute forty left in the game as Red Raven freshman Jahni Summers sank two free throws to give the Ravens a 69-67 lead.  Colby scored the last five points of the game to take the 72-69 victory.

Coffeyville had four players in double figures in the game including Summers with a game-high 24 points, freshman guard Brian Griffith with 12 points, sophomore Cris Carroll with 11 points and 9 rebounds, and freshman CJ Smith with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Red Ravens will return to action on Saturday, January 20th as the Pirates of Independence will pay a visit to Nellis Gymnasium.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
