Raven Guard Tylor Perry Sinks 34 Points in 87-83 Region VI Semifinal Win Over Cowley

Raven Guard Tylor Perry Sinks 34 Points in 87-83 Region VI Semifinal Win Over Cowley

Red Raven freshman guard Tylor Perry had a game to remember and the #5 seeded Coffeyville Community College Red Raven men's basketball team held on in the second half to defeat the #1 seeded Cowley Tigers 87-84.  With the win, the Red Ravens advance to the Region VI Championship game to face the #3 seed Butler Grizzlies.

Simply put, Red Raven guard Tylor Perry was money.  Perry scored 34 points (20 in the first half) on 6/9 shooting (5/7 from three-point range) and an astonishing 17/18 from the charity stripe for the game.

Behind Perry's monster fist half, Coffeyville was able to build a strong 56-34 halftime lead.  However, Cowley plays a fast-paced up-tempo style of offense and the Tigers roared back to life in the second half to make a game of it.  Cowley was able to pull the game within 4 points (75-71) with 4:40 remaining in the game but Tylor Perry free throws down the stretch enabled Coffeyville to escape with the 87-84 victory.

Besides Tylor Perry's monster night, other Raven top performers were sophomore guard Tony Hutson with 16 points and 6 rebounds and sophomore forward Meikkel Murray with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman forward Larry White pitched in 9 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Coffeyville heads to the Region VI Championship game where they will face their old nemesis the Butler Grizzlies coached by first-year head coach Kyle Fisher.  The Championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 pm in the United Wireless Arena in Dodge City Kansas.
