Strong Second Half Pushes Red Raven Men's Basketball Over Colby and Into Second Round of Region VI Tourney

The #6 seeded Coffeyville Community College men's basketball team defeated the #11 seeded Colby Trojans, 77-56, in the opening round of the Region VI Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.

The win moves the Red Ravens into the quarterfinal round of the Region VI tournament where they will play the #14 seeded Neosho Panthers.  Neosho made it to the quarterfinal round by defeating the #3 seed, Dodge City.

Against Colby, the game was very tight through the first half of play with the two teams tied at 32 at halftime.  However, the second half saw the Red Ravens exert their dominance and out score the Trojans by 21 in the second half to secure the 77-56 victory.

Red Raven sophomore forward Tedrick Wolfe had an outstanding night while just missing a double double scoring 22 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.  Other contributors for the Ravens included freshmen guard Malik Keith (13 points and 7 rebounds), freshmen guard Mike Cubbage (11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists) and freshmen guard Travis Washington (10 points).

The Red Ravens quarterfinal matchup against the Panthers of Neosho County is scheduled for Sunday, March 5th at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
