Red Ravens Bag the Panthers with 64-0 Defeat of Ellsworth

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens Football Team was hungry for victory and the team took it out on the Panthers of Ellsworth whom they defeated 64-0.  With the victory, the Ravens improved their overall record to 1-4 on the season.

The Red Ravens scored early and often in the matchup scoring 14 points in the first quarter and then another 22 points in the second quarter to take a 36-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.  Coffeyville scored an additional four touchdowns in the third quarter to take the 64-0 lead into the fourth quarter.  The Ravens let off the gas in the fourth quarter and kept Ellsworth out of the endzone to gain the 64-0 victory.

Coffeyville red-shirt freshman quarterback Geremiah Moore led off the scoring by rushing for a 21-yard touchdown on the opening drive for the Red Ravens.  Freshman tight end Brec Long followed up in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run to give Coffeyville a 14-0 lead.  Freshman running back Tre Jones opened the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run to give the Ravens a 20-0 lead (missed point after).  Freshman defensive back Martavien Johnson came up with a big play as he sacked the Panther quarterback in the endzone for a safety to give Coffeyville two more points and a 22-0 lead.  After the Panther punt, Raven quarterback Moore connected with sophomore receiver Joseph Young for a 42-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 29-0.  The final score of the first half was a 6-yard touchdown pass from Moore to freshman receiver Markerious Johnson to give the Ravens a 36-0 halftime lead.

The third quarter was crazy with the Ravens scoring four straight touchdowns.  Sophomore running back Ozarrio Smith rushed for a 52-yard touchdown along with a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.  Sophomore defensive back Jabari Tiller had a 4-yard scoop and score and freshman running back Omiri Wiggins capped off the afternoon scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run in the 64-0 defeat of Ellsworth.

Statistically, the Ravens had 441 yards of total offense to 73 from Ellsworth.

Coffeyville's defense was stout with 10 sacks on the afternoon led by sophomore defensive lineman Griffin Lampton who accounted for three.

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, October 7th as they travel to Fort Dodge Iowa to play against the #3 NJCAA-ranked Iowa Central Tritons.  Kick-off in Fort Dodge is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
