Red Ravens' First Quarter Costs Them in 65-57 Defeat at Garden City

Garden City, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team came out of the gates sluggish in the first quarter, scoring only six points in the quarter, on their way to a 65-57 defeat at the hands of the Broncbusters of Garden City.  With the loss, Coffeyville's overall record moves to 17-9 including a 12-8 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.  The 12-8 KJCCC record currently has the Red Ravens in the fifth spot (two games out of the fourth spot) in the 13-team KJCCC Division I standings.

Coffeyville's offense struggled in the first quarter of this one going scoreless for roughly eight minutes from the middle of the first quarter into the second quarter.  The Red Ravens did show some fight in the second half where they battled back from fifteen down (36-21) to pull within four points in the fourth quarter (52-48), however, Coffeyville was not able to pull ahead and would eventually lose the game 65-57.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomores Ivy Fox with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Kyleigh Ortiz with 15 points.

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, February 25th with a home matchup against the Conquistadors of Dodge City.  Tip-off in Nellis Hall is set for 2:00 p.m.
