Red Ravens Fall Just Short, Lose 20-17 at #2 Iowa Western

Council Bluffs, Iowa - In trying to defeat their second nationally ranked team in as many weeks, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team came up just short as they lost to the #2-ranked Iowa Western Reivers 20-17.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 3-6 on the season.

Coffeyville started the game out nicely as the Red Ravens got a Conner Gellende 25-yard field goal on their first possession of the game.  Early in the second quarter, Raven quarterback Enzo Tedesco hooked up with Jaiden Dozier for a 33-yard touchdown to give the Ravens a 10-0 lead at the 14:52 mark of the second quarter.

However, it was in the second quarter when the Reivers offense came alive,  Iowa Western scored on touchdown passes of 14 yards and 11 yards to take a 14-10 lead into halftime.

Coffeyville retook the lead at the 10:26 mark of the third quarter as Tedesco threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Young.  With the extra point, the Ravens took the 17-14 lead.  

Midway through the fourth quarter, Iowa Western jumped back in front with a 10-yard rushing touchdown.  The extra point failed and Iowa Western led by three, 20-17, with 7:24 remaining in the game.

Red Ravens had a last chance with a 1st and 10 at Iowa Western's 15-yard line, however, Coffeyville's last play was a 4th and 5 pass that fell incomplete and the Reivers took over and ran out the clock.

Statistically, the game was close with Coffeyville's offense producing 337 yards while Iowa Western's offense created 368 yards.

Coffeyville will play their last game of the year on Saturday, November 11th as they will welcome the Broncbusters of Garden City to Veteran's Memorial Stadium.  Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
