Red Ravens Take First Set, But Fall to #1 Johnson 3-1

Overland Park, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Volleyball Team came out strong against the #1 NJCAA undefeated Johnson County Cavaliers but fell in defeat 3-1.  With the loss, the Red Ravens overall record moved to 15-9 overall on the season including a 2-3 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matchups.

Coffeyville stormed out of the gates early taking the first set 25-21 from the undefeated Cavaliers.  However, Johnson pushed back taking a close second set 25-23 to tie up the match.  Johnson went on to take the third set 25-13 and the fourth set 25-15 to take the match 3-1.

Coffeyville had three athletes with double-digit kills in the match with freshman Madison Grekstas leading the way with 12.  Sophomores Sarah Madsen and Macie Wayne followed up with 10 kills each.  Sophomore libero led the defense with 17 digs while setters Taylor Burns and Olivia Murphy had 20 assists and 19 respectively.

Coffeyville will return to action on Wednesday, October 4th with a home KJCCC match against the Larks of Hesston College. The first serve in Nellis Gymnasium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
