Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team opened up their 2023 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) schedule with a 2-1 home loss against the #11 NJCAA-ranked Barton Cougars.  With the loss, the Red Ravens fell to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the KJCCC Division I standings.

The first half of the match went uneventful with each team feeling out the other and the schools went into halftime tied up at 0-0.  However, after halftime, the Cougars came out fired up and scored two quick goals over the first eight minutes of the second half to put the Red Ravens in a 2-0 hole with thirty-seven minutes remaining in the match.  Roughly eight minutes later, the Red Ravens broke through onto the scoreboard as sophomore Paulo Diaz pushed up a nice upfield pass to sophomore Mario De La Fuente who took a couple of dribbles and netted a clean goal past the Cougar goalkeeper to pull within 2-1 on the scoreboard.   Over the last twenty-eight minutes of play, Coffeyville played furiously in an attempt to get a second goal, but it was not to be and the match ended with #11 Barton gaining the 2-1 victory.

Coffeyville will hit the road this holiday weekend as they are set to play in the state of Illinois against Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey Illinois on Saturday, September 2nd with a kick-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m.  The Red Ravens will then play at  Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville Illinois on Sunday, September 3rd with a kick-off set for 11:00 a.m.
