Red Ravens Lose Close one in Overtime at Barton 77-84

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven men's basketball team traveled to Great Bend Kansas and lost a close one to the Barton Cougars 77-84 in overtime.

The loss drops the Red Raven's overall record to 11-5 and their Kansas Jayhawk conference record to 7-5.

The game was close through out with eight ties and nine lead changes.

Late in the second half, after a Mike Cubbage made shot, the Red Ravens found themselves up five (69-64) with 2:06 remaining in the game.  Over the last two minutes, the only points Coffeyville could muster was a Trey Kalina made free throw.  However, Barton was able to hit two 3 pointers, with the second of the two shots coming with 30 seconds remaining in the game, to tie the game at 70 at the end of regulation.

In the five minute overtime period, the Red Ravens were outscored 7-14 and thus the loss, 77-84.

Stat leaders for the Red Ravens include freshmen guard Malik Keith with 18 points, sophomore Jordan Taylor (18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals), and freshmen guard Travis Washington (13 points).

Coffeyville will return to action this Saturday, January 14th with a home date against the Cowley Tigers.  Tip-off for the game is set for 7:00 pm in Nellis Arena.
