Balanced Scoring and Free Throws Push the Red Ravens Over Top of the Red Devils 83-79

In their first Kansas Jayhawk Community Conference game of the season, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens men's basketball team defeated the Allen County Red Devils 83-79.

The Red Ravens maintained a balanced attack offensively with four players in double figures.  Red Raven freshmen Travis (TJ) Washington led the Red Ravens with 15 points on 4/8 shooting.  Freshmen Cedric Roland added 13 points on 6/9 shooting and freshmen Damion Taylor added 12 points and rounding out the double figure scoring was sophomore Tedrick Wolfe with 10 points.

Free throws was the other story in the game with Allen being whistled for 33 fouls on the evening.  Those 33 fouls enabled the Red Ravens to shoot 43 foul shoots in the game, making 33 (76.7%).  conversely, the Red Ravens were only called for 23 fouls and the Red Devils connected on 15/23 free throws (65.2%).

The win pushed the Red Ravens early season record to 5-0 and 1-0 in conference play.

Coffeyville will gear up for their second conference game of the year on Wednesday, November 16th when they play the Independence Pirates in Nellis West Arena at 7:30 pm.
