Red Raven Men's Basketball Win In Close Fashion Against NEO 51-50

Wednesday, November 9th

The Coffeyville Community College men's basketball extended their early season record to 4-0 with a close home win over the NEO Norsemen, 51-50.

The story of the game for the Red Ravens was the production from their bench.  The Red Raven reserves outscored the Norsemen bench 16-8, led by Coffeyville sophomore Tedrick Wolfe who had 10 points off the bench for the Red Ravens.

Coffeyville came out sluggish in the first half and allowed the Norsemen to build a 30-24 halftime lead.  However, in the second half the Red Ravens defense stiffened and the Norsemen were only able to score 20 second half points.

The game came down to one possession.  NEO had the ball down 50-51 with 21 seconds remaining in the game and were angling for the last shot when the ball was stolen by the Red Ravens.  NEO fouled with 2 seconds remaining and the Red Ravens hung on for the 51-50 victory.

Statistical leaders for the Red Ravens included freshmen Travis Washington with 14 points and 5 assists and sophomores Jordan Taylor and Greg Poleon, both with 6 rebounds each.

Coffeyville shot 37% (20/54) overall for the game and 21% (4/19) from the 3 point line.

Next up for the Red Ravens will be their conference opener this Saturday, November 12th in Nellis West Arena against the Red Devils of Allen County.
