#13 Red Ravens Hold On For a 4-3 Victory Over Garden City

Garden City, Kan. - The #13th NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team earned a 4-3 road victory over the Broncbusters of Garden City Community College.  The victory pushes the Red Ravens' overall record to 7-2 including a 2-0 record in KJCCC matchups.

Coffeyville opened up the match with sophomore Jack Greenwood putting the Ravens on the board with an unassisted goal 34 minutes into the first half to take a 1-0 lead over Garden City.

The first half ended on a flurry by Coffeyville with Red Raven freshman Alejandro Valles netting a goal, with an assist by sophomore Mark Mcdaid, at the 43:34 mark of the first half.  Just 45 seconds later, Mcdaid scored a goal himself, with an assist by sophomore Pedro Branco, to give the Red Ravens a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half saw the Broncbusters score quickly just barely two minutes into the second half to close the gap to a 3-1 Red Raven lead.  Twenty minutes later, Coffeyville would score their final goal of the game as freshman Gijs Hovius, reigning NJCAA Player of the Week, took an assist by Mcdaid and smacked the ball into the goal to give the Ravens a 4-1 lead with 25 minutes to go in the game.

Garden City made it interesting scoring two goals late in the contest to pull within one goal at 4-3, but Coffeyville reached the end of the match with the final score of 4-3 in favor of the Red Ravens.

Coffeyville will return to Veterans Memorial Stadium with a home matchup scheduled for Wednesday, September 21st against the Blue Devils of KCK.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm on the 21st.
