The Red Raven men started the game off slowly and struggled to take advantage of the large amounts of possession they had throughout the first half. The boys were punished with 11 minutes on the clock; a ball was delivered into the box and Coffeyville struggled to clear the ball, it bounced around a few times before it was struck sweetly by a KCK player who sat on the edge of the box. A response was needed from the boys at this point, and over the course of the first half, they managed to hold their own but were not able to convert in order to tie the game up. 

Going out into the second half, they had a new energy about them and began to take control of the game, possessing well throughout the early stages of the second half. Ten minutes into the second half, Alexsander Mihaylov stepped up for a corner kick who laid the ball off to Pedro Branco on the corner of the 18-yard box, Branco then delivered a beautiful ball into the box, for Miguel Da Silva to rise above the rest and head home the equalizer. 

 

The game continued to go back and forth after the goal, and chances were being created at both ends of the field. With four minutes to go on the clock, the KCK forward turned in the box and collided with Red Raven midfielder Luis Fernandes, and this resulted in the referee pointing to the spot. The KCK player stepped up and converted the penalty for the lead.

 

However, the Red Ravens were not done just yet. For the final four minutes, Coffeyville piled on the pressure and Pedro Branco delivered a central free-kick into the box, it was headed away by a KCK defender, however, Red Raven Daniel Gomes was sitting at the back post to recycle the ball back into the box which enabled Red Raven Miguel Da Silva to nod in for his second equalizer of the game. 

 

The game then went into overtime and it was end to end throughout the period. Chances were created at both ends of the field, but neither team was able to snatch the win.

 

The match ended in a 2-2 tie. With the tie, Coffeyville Community College was crowned Jayhawk East Conference Champions!

 

The Red Raven Men's Soccer Team heads into the District Playoffs as the #1 seed from the KJCCC East Division.  The Red Ravens are scheduled to play the #4 KJCCC West Seed Garden City.  The Ravens will host that First Round District matchup vs Garden City at Veterans Stadium on Wednesday, May 19th.  Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm.
