Red Ravens Fall to Neosho 2-1 in 2OT

Chanute, Kan. - The #16 NJCAA ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team lost in double overtime 2-1 to the Neosho Panthers. With the loss, the Ravens' overall record falls to 8-2 on the season.  The loss also snaps an eight-game winning streak for the Red Ravens.

Coffeyville started off the game fairly well and were knocking the ball around at a good tempo. Around 20 minutes left in the first half, a ball was delivered by Pedro Branco from a corner kick to the back post, and Miguel Da Silva was there to tap in the opening goal of the game to put the Red Ravens 1-0 up. The half was seen out well by the boys, and going into the break with a 1-0 lead was a solid outcome.

In the second half, the Red Ravens struggled to make anything stick, and around 25 minutes to go in the game, a dangerous ball was delivered by the Neosho midfielder into the box; the Red Raven defense didn't deal with the bouncing ball and it happened to find itself into the back of the net to tie the game up.

The game went back and forth for the remaining minutes ending in the 1-1 score at the end of regulation.  In the first half of overtime, the Ravens were not able to break the deadlock and score the winner. The second overtime began and the pressure was starting to be piled on the Coffeyville backline. With 4 minutes remaining on the clock, the Neosho midfielder struck a ball on goal, taking a huge deflection from a Coffeyville defender, resulting in it looping over the keeper's head and into the back of the net.  Game to Neosho, 2-1.

Coffeyville will look to bounce back as they travel to the #3 ranked Cowley College on Saturday, May 8th.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm.
