#19 NJCAA Ranked Red Ravens Score Another Shutout with 5-0 Victory Over Southeast CC

Coffeyville, Kan. - The newly ranked NJCAA #19 Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Soccer Team came out to prove their new ranking and scored a 5-0 shutout victory over Southeast Community College.  With the win, the Red Ravens' have now won five in a row (including four straight shutouts) with an overall record on the season of 5-1 including a 3-1 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference mark.

Against Southeast, the boys dominated the game from minute one but struggled to put the ball in the back of the net early on. Around the 25 minute mark, Fransicso Tapia drove with the ball down the right-hand side and pulls a ball back to Aleksander Mihaylov, who strikes a decent ball on goal, that is saved by the Southeast goalkeeper. Following the shot, Connor Pugh followed in for a rebound on the volley, to put the Red Ravens 1-0 up.
 
The boys kept pushing for the second goal, and it came shortly after the first. Marco Frezza picked up the ball on the halfway line and played a lovely weighted ball through to Nicolaus Stoddart, who cooly slotted it into the bottom corner to make 2-0.
 
Going into halftime ahead 2-0, the lads knew that they had a few more gears to show in order to put the game to bed. 
 
In the second half, the boys came out a lot stronger and began to play their own game. Playing the ball around well and possessing it comfortably before Edwin Towers picked up the ball, plays it out wide to Pedro Branco, who goes on to beat his man and smash the ball across the keeper for the Red Ravens third of the game. This is when the lads started to kick on and get back into their grove; again Pedro Branco picked up the ball in a crossing position and delivered a great ball into the box, which was met by Tyler Scarth but the keeper pulled off a great stop to deny the initial shot on goal, however on the follow-up, captain Emilio Brecino was their tap it in for Coffeyville's fourth
In the closing stages of the game, the boys continued to mount the pressure on the Southeast CC backline. In doing so, Miguel Da Silva won possession of the ball back in the 18-yard box and squared it to Tyler Scarth who cooly finished the ball to wrap up the scoring. 
 
Coffeyville looks to put their five-game win streak and four-game shutout streak on the line as they continue on with a road conference matchup against Kansas City Kansas Community College on Wednesday the 21st of April.  Game time at KCK is set for 7:30 pm.
