Red Raven Volleyball Suffers 1st Loss of Season: Lose to #14 ranked Div I Iowa Western 3-2, Maintain #2 ranking

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the #14 ranked NJCAA division I Iowa Western 3-2.  The loss moves the Raven overall record to 23-1 and 3-0 in the KJCCC standings.

The Ravens charged out of the gates winning the first set 25-14.  However, the next two sets prooved to be much more difficult for the Ravens with Iowa Western barely nudging the Ravens out at the end of both sets (23-25 & 24-26).  The fourth set saw Coffeyville pounce again with a 25-20 winning score, setting up a fifth set to decide the match.  Coffeyville looked to close it out, but could not get the door closed and Iowa Western prevailed winning the fifth set 15-13 and the match 3-2.

Red Raven sophomore Seliann Concepcion had a double double in the loss with 21 kills and 15 digs. Danielle Dodge had an astonishing 31 digs in the match. 

Even with the loss, the Red Ravens were able to maitain their #2 ranking this week.  The complete NJCAA national poll can be found by clicking HERE.

Coffeyville will return to action this week with a home KJCCC matchup against Neosho County CC on Wednesday (6:30p) and the Ravens will then travel to the Des Moines Area Community College Tournament (DMACC) this Friday and Saturday (Oct 4th & 5th).  The Red Ravens will play at 10:00a (vs Iowa Central) and 12:00p (vs Ellsworth) on Friday followed by the big showdown on Saturday at 8:00a against #1 ranked Parkland.  The Ravens will finish off the tournament on Saturday by playing Waubonsee CC at noon.
