Red Raven Volleyball Earns First KJCCC Victory of the Year With 3-0 Sweep of Neosho

Chanute, Kan. - In their first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) game of the season, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball Team defeated the Panthers of Neosho County 3-0.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improve their early season record to an overall 3-2 and an important 1-0 in KJCCC match-ups.

In a hard-fought first set, Coffeyville was able to claim the slim 25-21 advantage to take the 1-0 advantage.  The second set saw the Ravens jump out quickly with a substantial lead to then watch Neosho close the gap to the final 25-17 in Coffeyville's favor.  The third and final set had both teams working hard to gain the set, but Coffeyville was able to earn the 25-21 set and the match sweep.

Top performers for the Red Ravens included freshman Alexcia Jones who contributed 10 kills along with 16 digs to earn the kill-digs double-double, sophomore Sariah Sumpter pitched in 9 kills and freshman Sarah Madsen had 7 kills along with 15 digs.  Freshman Patience Whittaker led the team with 23 digs and freshman setter Taylor Burns had 29 assists.

The Ravens are set to travel to Kansas City to play in a Thursday/Friday (Aug 25-26) Tournament hosted by Kansas City Kansas Community College.  Game times on Thursday, Aug 25 are set for 3:00 pm vs Fort Scott and 7:00 pm vs Lincoln Land Community College.
