Coffeyville, Kan. - In an excited Nellis East Gymnasium, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Volleyball Team defeated the Pirates of Independence 3-0 in the Plains District A Semifinals.  With the victory, the Red Raven's 2022 overall record improves to 26-9.  

Coffeyville easily took the first two sets of the match 25-16 and 25-14.  The Red Ravens put a thrill into the Nellis East crowd when trailing 24-18 in the third set they reeled off eight straight points to put the dagger into the Pirates and take the third set 26-24 and the match 3-0. 

Red Raven freshman Sarah Madsen, who served out the final eight points, led Coffeyville with 10 kills followed by freshman Alexcia Jones with six.  On the defensive side, Jones led with 21 digs followed closely by freshmen Taylor Burns and Patience Whittaker who both posted 20 digs each.  Sophomore Nicole Soto registered three solo blocks along with a block assist.

Coffeyville's season continues as they now move into the Plains District A Finals where they will face #2 NJCAA-ranked Johnson County (33-3).  That District Championship match is set for Saturday, November 5th at Garvey Gym on the campus of Friends University in Wichita KS.  The Coffeyville/Johnson matchup will be the second District final of the day and will start one hour after the District B Final of Cowley/KCK final scheduled for 12:30 pm.
