Raven Volleyball Defeats Fort Scott 3-1 on Sophomore Night

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Volleyball team defeated the Greyhounds of Fort Scott 3-1.  The 3-1 victory came on Sophomore Night for the Red Ravens where the team's sophomores were honored.  The victory improves the Red Raven's overall record to 7-5 including a 5-4 KJCCC conference mark.  The 5-4 conference record has the Ravens 6th in the 11 team KJCCC East rankings.

Before the game, Coffeyville's sophomores were honored with introductions and framed posters for each.  The sophomores honored were #9 Raina Forstrom (Cuba, MO), #14 Miray Hatun (Instanbul Turkey), #4 Jaysa Wichers (Hays, KS), #1 Malia Mack (Joplin, MO), and #12 Aria Watson (Midwest City, OK).

Once the match started Coffeyville quickly took control of the match, winning the first set 25-22.  The greyhounds of Fort Scott came back winning the second set 25-19 to even the match at one set each.  The Ravens completed the match victory by taking the third set 25-13 and the fourth set 25-21 for the 3-1 set victory.  The victory was the second for the Raven this year over Fort Scott, the Ravens beat the Greyhounds 3-0 earlier in the year at Fort Scott. 

Aria Watson led the Ravens with 13.5 points off of 9 kills and 7 blocks.  Raven middle blocker Malia Mack had 10 points on 9 kills and 2 blocks.  Freshman Jennifer Jenson led the team in digs with 13.

Coffeyville will return to action this Thursday, March 13th with a home match against the Panthers of Neosho County.  The first serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
