Women's Soccer Opens 2016 Season

Coffeyville Community College Red Raven women's soccer team opened their season with 0-1-2 first week record.

The Red Ravens opened the season by traveling up to Kansas City Missouri on August 23 to take on MCC-Maple Woods.

Coffeyville started out the match slowly, giving up two quick goals in the opening 20 minutes.  However, the Red Ravens were able to bounce back with goals from Andrea Comper, a freshman forward from France, and Vika Hassel, a sophomore forward from Silver Creek Colorado.  Comper's goal was assisted by freshmen defensemen Val Stuerman from Shawnee Kansas.  These two goals allowed the Ravens to eek out the tie for the final score 2-2.

Next up for the Red Ravens was a match against Seminole State College in Seminole Oklahoma on August 25th.

Again, the Red Ravens gave up an early goal with Seminole scoring a goal at the 11 minute mark of the first half.  However, Coffeyville was able to answer quickly with Red Raven forward Vika Hassel scoring an unassisted goal at the 18 minute mark.  From that point on, the defenses for both teams took over and no other scoring occurred.  The match ended in a 1-1 tie.

The third game of the opening week for the women's soccer team was a match on August 27th in Wilburton Oklahoma against Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Eastern jumped out early on the Red Ravens with goals at the 3, 48, and 73 minute marks.  Coffeyville did bounce back with an unassisted goal from sophomore mid fielder Mia Her from Olathe Kansas, but were not able to overcome the 3 goals from Eastern and lost 1-3.

The Ravens look to bounce back with their home opener scheduled for Friday, September 2nd against Butler.  Game time at Veterans Memorial Stadium is set for 6:00 p.m.
