Ravens Advance to Region VI Quarterfinals with 67-52 Defeat of Colby

Coffeyville, Kan. - It's that time of year.  Win & Advance.  The #5 seeded Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball team defeated the #12th seeded Colby Trojans 67-52 to advance to the Region VI Quarterfinals.  With the victory, the Red Ravens won their 20th game of the season and improved their overall record to 20-11.

Coffeyville had strong second and third quarters where they outscored the Trojans by a total of 41-20.  With a 56-33 lead after three quarters, the Red Raven rested the majority of their starters in the fourth quarter on their way to the 67-52 first-round victory.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore Ivy Fox who had 15 points and 5 rebounds, sophomore Bailey Layman with 14 points (4/7 from 3) and 5 rebounds, and sophomore Kyleigh Ortiz with 13 points & 5 assists.

Coffeyville rolls into the Region VI Women's Division I Quarterfinals where they match up against the #4 seeded Barton Cougars.  Coffeyville and Barton split their two games during the regular season with Barton winning the first matchup 51-40 (January 3rd) at Barton and Coffeyville winning the second 62-42 (February 17th) in Coffeyville.

The Quarterfinals are scheduled to be in Great Bend Kansas on Tuesday, March 12th with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
