Coffeyville, Kan. - In pursuit of a much-needed victory, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team defeated the Broncbusters of Garden City 3-2.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their 2023 overall record to 3-4 including a 2-4 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.

Coffeyville came out of the gates quickly in this one scoring the first two goals of the game.  The first Ravens' goal came as a misstep between a Garden City player and the Broncbuster goalkeeper resulting in the ball hitting the back of the Broncbuster's goal for a point on the Raven side of the scoreboard.  While pushing the action, Coffeyville's offense scored a second goal as sophomore Jocelyn Alfonso scored with an assist by sophomore Thayline Teixeira.  After a Garden City goal, the Red Ravens went into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Just twenty seconds into the second half, Red Raven sophomore Veronica Calixto took a pass from Thayline Teixeira and deposited it into the back of the net to give Coffeyville a 3-1 lead early into the second half.  The Broncbusters scored a late goal, but Coffeyville finished off the match with the 3-2 victory.

Coffeyville returns to action on Wednesday, September 20th with a home match against the Saints of Seward County.  Kick-off in Veterans Memorial Stadium is set for 4:00 p.m.
