Strong Fourth Quarter Pushes #24 Red Ravens Over Cowley 66-60

Arkansas City, Kan. - The #24 NJCAA-ranked Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team traveled to Arkansas City Kansas for a Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) road game, and came away with a 66-60 defeat of the Tigers of  Cowley College.  With the victory, Coffeyville improved to an overall 2023-24 record of 8-1 including a clean 3-0 KJCCC record.

The game was tight throughout with the two teams tied after the first period.  Coffeyville was able to gain some ground in the second quarter and go into halftime with a 34-27 halftime lead, however, Cowley outscored the Ravens by eight in the third period to pull the overall score back to just a one-point difference heading into the fourth.  The fourth quarter was the deciding factor in the game as the Red Ravens outscored the Tigers 18-11 in the final period to earn the six-point 66-60 victory.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore guard Tetona Woods-Blackowl who excelled with a season-high 18 points to go with 8 rebounds and 3 assists, sophomore Ivy Fox who had 13 points, and freshman Karys Washington with 11 points.  Washington was key in the fourth quarter as she made 9 out of 10 free throws in the final period.

#24 Coffeyville (8-1) will host #6 Butler (8-0) in an early season KJCCC showdown in Nellis Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 29th with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
