Red Ravens Place Five in Double Figures in a 91-72 Victory at Dodge City

Dodge City, Kan. - After a couple of losses to open the year, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Men's Basketball Team earned their first victory of 2024 in a 91-72 road victory over the Conquistadors of Dodge City.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 8-7 which includes a 4-5 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games.  The 4-5 KJCCC record currently has Coffeyville in eighth place in the 13-team KJCCC Men's Division I standings.

With a one-point lead (22-21) at the 7:10 mark of the first half, the Red Raven Men's basketball team took control of the game as they went on a 19-8 run to end the first half with a 43-29 halftime lead.   The Ravens promptly opened the second half with a 5-0 run in the first couple of minutes of the half and never looked back.

Coffeyville shot well on the night shooting 53% overall and 43% from behind the arc.  Coffeyville also hit the glass, outrebounding the Conquistadors 37 to 28.

The Red Ravens had points from all over their roster as five players scored in double figures.  Leading the way was freshman guard Jahni Summers who had a career-best 28 points (6-10 from behind the arc) and six rebounds.  Following Summers 28 points was sophomore Cris Carroll with 19 points, freshman guard Brian Griffith with 17 points, and freshman Jayven Cofer and sophomore Boubacar Keita both with 10 points each.  Freshman forward Alvin Cole patroled the glass as he had a career-best 15 rebounds on the night.

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, January 13th with a home matchup against the #17th NJCAA-ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons.  Tip-off in Nellis Gymnasium is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
