Red Ravens Fall to #1 Hutchinson 37-7

Hutchinson, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Football Team traveled to #1 NJCAA ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons and lost 37-7.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 0-4.

Coffeyville started the game with some momentum as they won the toss and then on the Blue Dragons' first drive of the game, the Ravens forced a fumble that Coffeyville's sophomore linebacker Rontriavious Perry was able to recover at Coffeyville's 43-yard line.

However, after recovering the fumble, the Red Ravens' first drive ended just four plays later as Red Raven sophomore quarterback Connor Apo threw an interception that resulted in Hutchinson taking over possession at the Coffeyville 34-yard line.  Hutchinson's subsequent drive would end in the end zone to take a 7-0 lead at the 9:06 mark of the first quarter.

The Blue Dragons would go on to score another ten points in the first quarter to take a 17-0 lead into the second quarter.  Coffeyville opened the second quarter as Raven freshman defensive back Cyler Christmas scooped up a Hutchinson fumble and returned it 17 yards for a Red Raven touchdown to pull within 17-7 early in the second quarter.  From that point forward, Hutchinson outscored Coffeyville 20-0 to finish the game with a 37-7 defeat of the Red Ravens.

According to the box score, the game seemed relatively close with both teams close in most categories  Coffeyville had 13 first downs to Hutchinson's 14.  Coffeyville had 240 yards of total offense to Hutchinson's 278.  Coffeyville had 118 yards of passing and 122 yards of rushing to Hutchinson's 111 and 167.  Coffeyville's time of possession was 34:41 to Hutchinson's 25:19.  Hutchinson also had three lost fumbles on the evening.  The difference on the main stat of the game, the scoreboard, was that Hutchinson was able to sustain multiple drives resulting in scoring opportunities where Coffeyville's drives could not find the end zone or scoring possibilities at the end of their possessions.
