Red Raven Season Ends With Heartbreaking Walkoff Loss to Dodge City in Deciding Game #3

Dodge City, Kan. - In their opening-round playoff best-of-3 series against the Dodge City Conquistadors, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball Team dropped a close game #1 to the Conquistadors 6-5 while rebounding to take game #2 5-3 which set up a winner take all game #3.  Heartbreakingly, the Red Ravens lost game #3 12-11 in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning to Dodge City.  With the loss, Coffeyville's season ends with an overall record of 28-31.

The deciding game #3 would start with Coffeyville scoring a quick run in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead in the contest.  Dodge City responded scoring two runs each in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 6-2 lead to the top of the fifth inning.  Coffeyville would flex their offense in the top of the fifth scoring six runs to take the 8-6 lead after five innings.  Coffeyville would tag on three more runs in the top sixth to take an 11-6 lead going into the seventh inning.  However, Dodge City would answer by scoring two in the seventh and three in the eighth inning to tie the game up at 11 heading into the ninth inning.  Coffeyville could not plate a runner in the top of the ninth while Dodge City scored a run on a bases loaded no out single into right field to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

Red Raven sophomores Adrian Dominguez (3 for 5 with 5 RBIs and a run scored) and Carson Schrack (3 for 4 with a run scored) led Coffeyville offensively.
