Lefty Chat Hays Pitches No-Hitter, Ravens Win Two Against Labette

Coffeyville, Kan. - Red Raven lefty Chat Hays was unhittable.  In the first game of the home doubleheader against Labette, Hays pitched the complete seven-inning game allowing a total of ZERO hits.  Coffeyville swept the doubleheader with a 4-1 victory in the first game and a 7-6 victory in the second game.  With the two victories, Coffeyville's overall record moves to 16-14 including an 8-10 KJCCC record.

Game 1 - Win 4-1

Chat Hays, a sophomore from Grove OK, was the obvious story in the first game.  Hays pitched all seven innings allowing zero hits on four strikeouts while walking two.  Hays was on target throwing strikes on 49 out of his 73 total pitches thrown.  Labette's lone run was an unearned run.

Raven right fielder Jack Bell went 2 for 3 in the game including a double and 2 RBIs.  Third baseman Quinton Carlberg went 2 for 2 including a double and an RBI.  

Game 2 - Win 7-6

In the second game of the day, Coffeyville continued their success from game one jumping out early with a 1-0 lead after the first inning.  The Ravens were ahead 6-1 after the fifth inning when Labette decided to add a little drama to the day by scoring a run in the eighth and then loading the bases in the ninth, the Cardinals scored a couple to pull within 7-6 in the ninth but the Ravens were able to secure the last out and gain the 7-6 victory.

Coffeyville pounded out 15 hits in the game with shortstop Orlando Gonzalez, second baseman Korben Ford, first baseman Jackson Mannix and right fielder Jack Bell all belting out three hits each.  Gonzalez and Bell each had a double and a triple.

Righty Kinson Michel earned the victory (4-1) pitching 5 and two-thirds allowing three earned on four hits while striking out three and walking four.

 

Coffeyville will return to action this Saturday, April 9th with a doubleheader scheduled in Parsons KS with the "away" portion of the Labette series.  Game times at Labette are scheduled for 1:00 & 3:30.
