Red Ravens Win Both Ends of Doubleheader at Highland

Highland, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Baseball team grabbed a 9-3 victory in the first game as well as a 16-1 victory in the second game in an afternoon doubleheader against the Scotties of Highland Community College.  With the victories, the Red Ravens improved their overall record to 24-26 on the season.

Game #1 - Red Ravens 9  Scotties 3

Coffeyville scored runs in each of the first five innings, capped off by four runs in the fifth inning, to cruise to the 9-3 seven-inning victory in the opening game.

Red Raven freshman second baseman Carson Schrack paced the offense going 4 for 5 at the plate.  Sophomore Catcher Drake Unrein had two hits including a home run while knocking in four RBIs.

Freshman right-hander Ricky Hernandez went the complete seven innings in earning his eighth win of the season (8-2).  Hernandez went seven innings allowing three earned on five hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Game #2 - Red Ravens 16  Scotties 1

Coffeyville found themselves in a groove in game two as they scored 16 runs in the victory.

Coffeyville sophomore shortstop Mason Holton found the game two pitching to his liking as he went 4 for 5 in the game including a double and home run while driving in five.  A total of six Red Ravens had multiple hits in the game.

Sophomore right-hander Carlos Lopez threw six strong on the mound for Coffeyville allowing one earned on two hits while striking out six and walking three.

 

Coffeyville will return to action on Saturday, April 29th with a "Home" doubleheader scheduled against Highland.  With technical issues at Walter Johnson Park, the doubleheader will be played at Neosho County's Hudson Field in Chanute Kansas.  Game times are set for 1:00p and 4:00p in Chanute.
