Red Ravens Take 3 of 4 from Barton

In a home/away four-game non-conference series, the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens Baseball Team took three out of four games from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) West-leading Barton Cougars.  Coffeyville's overall record improved to 25-18 which includes an 11-13 mark against KJCCC East teams.

Game 1 - W 5-4

Coffeyville won in dramatic fashion with sophomore third baseman Quinton Carlburg hitting the walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in the winning run in the 5-4 victory.

Raven lefty Chat Hays started for Coffeyville going five innings allowing two earned on seven hits while striking out five and walking three. Raven sophomore righty Alex Calvez came in for relief pitching the last two innings allowing zero earned on two hits.

Game 2 - W 10-9

For the second game in a row, the Red Ravens win in walk-off fashion.  Coffeyville's hero in this one came in the form of freshman pinch hitter Tyler Massey.  In a tied game in the ninth inning, Massey was inserted and delivered a no-out solo home run to deliver the 10-9 victory to the Ravens.  Coffeyville pounded out a total of twelve hits in the game with freshman Jackson Mannix leading the way going four of five in the game.

Kinson Michel started on the mound for the Ravens going three and two-thirds allowing one earned on five hits while striking out five.  Coffeyville then went to the bullpen using a total of five relief pitchers over the final five and a third innings.

Game 3 - L 12-11

Barton must have gotten upset being walked off two games in a row, that they decided to get one themselves scoring a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Ravens 12-11.

Freshman catcher Tanner Graves and sophomore center fielder Grant Deveschery both had two hits in the game.

Game 4 - W 5-4

Coffeyville and Barton each scored two runs in the first inning, however, the Ravens score one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to outlast Barton in the 5-4 victory.

Red Raven sophomore third baseman Drew Cates led the Ravens at the plate going two for three including a double and a triple.  Sophomore righty Marcos Lopez got the victory for Coffeyville going five strong allowing two earned on five hits while striking out six.

Coffeyville returns to action on Monday, April 25th with a doubleheader scheduled in Baldwin City KS against the Baker University JV.  Game times set at 4:00 and 6:00.
