Ravens Win Opening Round of NJCAA District Playoffs with 1-0 Victory over Hutchinson

Coffeyville, Kan. -  The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team defeated the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson 1-0 in the opening round of the NJCAA Women's District Soccer Playoffs.  With the victory, the Red Ravens' overall record moves to 11-7.  With the victory, the Red Ravens will face #9 Cowley College in the semifinals of the NJCAA District Playoffs.  The District Semifinal will be the third in Coffeyville's women's soccer program history.

Earlier in the season, the Red Ravens had lost a close 2-1 match against Hutchinson and Coffeyville was eager for the rematch.

The first half of the game saw both teams struggle with offense each team's defense nullifying any advantage the other team got.  The teams went into halftime knotted up at 0-0.

Coffeyville came out in the second half and quickly pushed the tempo on offense.  Six minutes into the second half, Raven freshman forward Alia Jaidi took a nice assist from sophomore Emily Hannah and placed it into the back of Hutchinson's net to give the Ravens a 1-0 lead early in the second half.

Coffeyville's backline stepped up to finish off the half and Coffeyville had the NJCAA opening round 1-0 shutout victory.

The Lady Ravens will look to add to their season win total with the NJCAA District Semifinal matchup against #9 Cowley College.  That matchup is scheduled for 4 pm on Thursday, November 4th at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita Kansas.
