Ravens Win Fifth in a Row, Defeat Broncbusters 3-0

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Soccer Team won their fifth game in a row with a 3-0 victory over the Garden City Broncbusters.  With the victory, the Red Ravens improved their overall 2021 season record to 5-1 including a perfect 4-0 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) matches.

Coffeyville came out of the locker room strong and right from the start put the pressure on the Broncbusters.  Red Raven freshman midfielder Katie Burfoot started off the scoring by finding the back of the net at the 34:30 mark of the first half.  Burfoot was assisted on the goal by freshman Ashleigh Sweat.

Both teams had chances throughout the rest of the first half, but Coffeyville went into halftime with the 1-0 lead.

Coming out after halftime at the 41:00 mark of the second half, Red Raven Burfoot returned the favor with a beautifully played ball to Sweat who put the ball in the back of the net for the Ravens' second goal.

Burfoot was not done helping her team as she earned the assist on Coffeyville's last goal (21:20 2nd half) as she ran down a side ball and then placed a pass to Raven freshman Valentina Virquez in front of the goal who easily found pay dirt in the back of the net to extend the Red Raven lead to 3-0 over Garden City.

Coffeyville's defense held firm over the last 20 minutes of the match and Coffeyville earned the 3-0 victory over Garden City.

Raven freshman goalkeeper Catriona Burns extended her record to 5-1 on the season with another outstanding game in goal.

Coffeyville will return to action this coming Saturday, September 19th with a home match against the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College.  The kickoff is set for 4:00 pm in Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
