The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven women's basketball team improved their overall record to an impressive early season 8-0 with a win over previously undefeated Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers 74-70.
Coffeyville survived a blistering first quarter where Eastern OK outscored the Ravens 24-21. However, Coffeyville's defense clamped down in the second quarter only allowing the Mountaineers to score 10 points. The quality second-quarter defense gave the Ravens the 40-34 halftime lead. Coffeyville held off the Mountaineers in a tough fourth quarter to earn the 74-70 victory.
The Red Ravens as a team shot the ball extremely well shooting 57% (29/51) overall from the field and 56% (5/9) from the three-point arc.
Top Red Raven players in the game included sophomore Alana Kramer (17 points), freshman Tynica Gilmore (15 points), freshman Kailyn Lay (10 points and 8 assists) and Ania Markowska (8 points and 16 rebounds).
Coffeyville will return to action on Thursday, November 21st with a road game at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in Tonkawa Oklahoma. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
