November 21, 2019

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven women's basketball team defeated the Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa Mavericks 84-57 on Thursday night.  The win powers the Red Ravens overall record to 9-0 to start the season.

It has been 10 years since the Red Ravens have had a better start to a season.  The 2008-09 Red Raven team started out 10-0 before their first loss.  Notable winning streaks for the Red Raven women's basketball team at any time of the season include the 2014-15 team that reeled off 12 in a row mid-season and the 2006-07 team that won an impressive 14 in a row.

Against Tokawa, Coffeyville started out slowly which led to the Ravens nursing a 36-31 halftime deficit.  However, the Ravens came out after halftime and blew out the Mavericks in the second half, outscoring them 53-21 in the half and earning the 84-57 victory.

Top players for the Red Ravens in the game included sophomore Alana Kramer with 14 points, sophomore McKenzie Murrel-Patton with 11 points and freshman Kailyn Lay and sophomore Christina Deng each with 10 points.

The Ravens look to make it ten in a row when they travel to Eastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, November 23rd.  Gametime is set for 2:00 pm.
