CCC's Devin Wright has 18-10 Double Double to Help Ravens in 62-58 Victory at Dodge City

The Coffeyville Community College Women's Basketball Team traveled to Dodge City Kansas and achieved a 62-58 victory over the Dodge City Conquistadors.  The win pushes the Ravens overall record to 5-2 along with a 4-2 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.

Against Dodge City, Coffeyville was playing without their sophomore center Faith Simpson, who had tweaked a minor injury against Colby on the previous Thursday night.

In the absence of Simpson, the Ravens seemed like they were playing from behind the entire game.  Coffeyville trailed by nine midway through the second quarter and trailed by 4-6 points for the majority of the game. However, the Ravens survived by holding an 18-5 offensive rebounding edge which enabled Coffeyville to score 16 second-chance points to only four for Dodge City.

Lastly, the game came down to stingy fourth-quarter defense, the Ravens only allowed Dodge to score five points in the final quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Ravens down one, 57-58, and 20 seconds remaining in the game, Coffeyville freshman Martina Aeschliman drilled a 3-pointer to take the 60-58 lead.  A Dodge City turnover and a couple of made Raven free throws later and Coffeyville had the 62-58 victory.

Top performers for Coffeyville on the afternoon included;

Freshman forward Devin Wright with a big 18 point 10 rebound double-double
Freshman guard Makenzie Davis with 14 points and 6 rebounds

Next up for the Coffeyville women will be a home contest against the Cloud County Thunderbirds on February 24th with tip-off scheduled in Nellis Hall at 5:30 p.m.
