The Red Ravens women's basketball program (11-11 overall, 9-9 KJCCC conference) returned to the win column with a 61-55 victory over the Cloud County T-Birds.

The women got out to a hot start with a 12-2 opening run.  While out to the early lead, the Red Ravens started to slip in their efficiency as they saw the T-Birds come back on a 19-4 run.  The T-Birds found success from their sophomore guard Kelsi Mueller as she went 5-5 from the three point line.

Needing to make an adjustment, head coach Stephen Harrel switched his defensive strategy and contained Mueller for the remainder of the game.

Once again proving to be one of the constant threats for Harrel, sophomore Sky Jasper "The Limit" led the team with 17 points on the night.  Jasper also played 39 out of the 40 minutes.  Having a player of her caliber on the floor that long, while being productive, is something that the team will be looking for down the stretch.  Along with her 17 points, Jasper included five rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks.  

Jasper continues to make a case for herself as one of the conferences best guards.  On the year, she is averaging 11.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game.  

Jasper wasn't the only Red Raven to have a great game in the win.  Sophomores MaKayla Tanksley, Alexis Wooden, and Lucy Burke all had big performances in the win.

Playing 37 minutes, Tanksley recorded seven assists, three rebounds and five points on the night.  The impressive stat for the point guard, is that she only had one turnover on the game.  The game was more characteristic of the game Tanksley brings night in and night out.  She is one of the guards in the conference that may not put up the points, but you can always find her assist to turnover ration in favor of the assists.  Handling the ball as much as she does, Tanksley is known to take care of her possessions and find the open player.  In the win, she did just that.

Wooden nearly had another double-double as she racked up 10 points and seven rebounds on the contest.  The sophomore has been instrumental in all of the wins for the Red Ravens this year, and this game wasn't any different.

Since missing nearly a week with the flu, sophomore sharp shooter Lucy Burke hasn't shot the ball at the high percentage Red Raven fans have come to expect.  Against Cloud, Burke shot 57% from behind the arch while going 2/2 at the free throw line.  She also added four rebounds and three assists to her stat line.  It was a sign of good things to come for Burke as she returns to form.

With 6:25 left in the game, the Red Ravens took a 49-46 lead and never looked back.  

The Red Ravens will return for a home match up against Pratt Community College on Saturday, starting at 2:00pm.
