Early on in the game, it WAS the Red Raven defense that set the tone early on.  After a quick three and out by Coffeyville's offense, and a 10-play drive down the field by Iowa Central, the Red Raven defense kept the Tritons out of the end zone only allowing the field goal.

On Coffeyville's next possession, the Ravens fumbled the snap on their very first play of the drive and Iowa Central had the ball deep in Coffeyville's end.  The Tritons went on to a seven-play 30-yard touchdown drive to take an early 10-0 lead over the Ravens.  However, Coffeyville took the kick-off and pulled a nine-play 72-yard touchdown drive of their own capped off by an 11-yard pass from Coffeyville's sophomore quarterback Isaiah Valez to freshman receiver Latrell Bonner to get some points on the board themselves pulling within three points at 10-7.

After Coffeyville's defense held the Tritons to a three and out for their next possession, the Red Ravens again went driving going 69 yards in seven plays capped off by Coffeyville's freshman running back Romel Webb who took the handoff and dashed four yards to paydirt.  The Forrest Taylor extra point was good Coffeyville jumped ahead of the Tritons 14-7.

At the end of the second quarter, Iowa Central went into two-minute mode and scored a short rushing touchdown with just 19 seconds left in the first half to pull ahead 16-14 (missed XP).  However, with only 12 seconds remaining in the half for Coffeyville, the Red Ravens were able to pull out a 41-yard touchdown strike from Red Raven quarterback Valez to freshman receiver Joseph Young to give Coffeyville a 21-16 halftime advantage.

At the 5:58 mark of the third quarter, Iowa Central was able to score an 18-yard rushing touchdown and convert a 2-point conversion to take a 24-21 lead over the Ravens.  Coffeyville was able to answer with a 13-yard rushing touchdown of their own as sophomore running back Dorian Lewis scored the touchdown (missed XP) to move back ahead 27-24.

The Red Ravens opened up the fourth quarter with a quick touchdown run by sophomore running back Ferontay Cutler to give Coffeyville a little breathing room with a 34-24 ten-point advantage.

Iowa Central immediately responded going on a 70-yard 11-play drive touchdown drive to pull within three points again at 34-30 (blocked XP).

On Coffeyville's side of the back and forth, the Red Ravens marched 65 yards in 9 plays capped off by a Valez to Dorian Lewis 13-yard touchdown pass to again give the Ravens a 10 advantage at 40-30.  In the final touchdown of the night, Red Raven running back Dorian Lewis took the handoff and raced 14 yards to cap off his three-touchdown performance on the night (2 rushing and 1 receiving).

Coffeyville had the 47-30 victory over the #7 ranked Iowa Central Tritons.

Coffeyville's offense gained 365 total yards in the game (184 through the air and 181 on the ground) compared to Iowa Central's 429 yards of total offense.  However, it was the Raven defense stepping up and keeping the opposition out of the endzone when needed.

Coffeyville's quarterback Isaiah Velez was 19-29 in the game for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Coffeyville's three-headed rushing attack was on point with Romel Webb rushing 9 times for 92 yards and a TD, Dorian Lewis adding 8 rushes for 52 yards and 2 TDs while freshman Jacqez Barksdale rushed 10 times for 47 yards.

Coffeyville was scheduled to play Southern Shreveport at home next week (Oct 15th) however, due to a Shreveport scheduling conflict, that game has been canceled.  The Ravens will return to action on October 22nd with a home afternoon (1:00 pm) game against Georgia Christian.
