The Coffeyville Football team played their first home game in over a month at Veterans Memorial Stadium Saturday night. The Hutchinson Blue Dragons came into town as the #4 team in the country and the #1 team in the conference. Both offense struggled early in the colder weather, but Hutchinson got on the board with a 7-0 lead after Dezmon Jackson broke a 90 yard run for a touchdown. The score stayed the same until the 8 minute mark of the second quarter when Marco Lee pounded the rock into the endzone to tie the game at 7-7. The tie was short lived as Jackson broke another long run a minute later to put the Blue Dragons back up 7. With 45 seconds left in the first half the Ravens made a mistake throwing a pick 6 to Monty Montgomery to put the score at 21 to 7 going into halftime.

At halftime of the game Coffeyville Football took a moment to honor the newly inducted Hall of Fame class. Ron Celcil, Siran Stacy, and members of the 1978 Conference Championship Team were all recognized for their accomplishments as Red Ravens. Paul Soliai was also inducted into the 2018 Hall of Fame class, but could not be in attendence.

The second half of the contest was a match in the trenches with both team fighting for everything they could get. Hutchinson would be the first to crack the scoreboard kicking a field goal and extending the lead to 24-7. Coffeyville would not go down with out a fight however, with Eterious Giles catching a 34 yard pass from Carson Proctor to cut Hutchinsons lead to 24-14 with 8:44 left in the game. That would be all the scoring for the contest and the final score would end at 24-14 in favor of the Hutchinson Blue Dragons.

Coffeyville Football is back in action Saturday October 20th at 7pm on the road against Mongomery County rival Indepedence CC.
