Red Ravens Struggle in Fourth Quarter in 68-63 Defeat to the Blue Dragons of Hutchinson

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team struggled in the fourth quarter as they lost to the Hutchinson Blue Dragons 68-63.  With the loss, the Red Ravens' overall record falls to 15-10 including an 11-8 record in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) games. 

Coffeyville started the game out smoothly leading the Blue Dragons after the first quarter 17-12 and led by twelve at halftime 38-26.  Starting the fourth quarter the Red Ravens seemed to be in control of the game leading Hutchinson by fourteen points 56-42.  However, as smoothly as the first three quarters went for the Red Ravens, the fourth quarter went pretty much the opposite.  At the 8:44 mark of the fourth quarter, Red Raven freshman guard Kyeigh Ortiz sank a three to give Coffeyville a 59-46 lead.  For the remainder of the game, the Red Ravens were outscored 22-4 in the 68-63 loss.  

Turnovers were a problem for Coffeyville in the game as they committed 16 to Hutchinson's 8.  Coffeyville's 16 turnovers were converted into 14 points by the Blue Dragons.

Game leaders for Coffeyville included sophomore forward Jordynn Conner who had 20 points and 8 rebounds and sophomore center Cheyenne Banks who pitched in 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Freshman guard Bailey Layman had 9 points on 3/6 shooting from behind the arc.

Coffeyville will return to action with a 20-minute drive north to play the Pirates of Independence on Saturday, February 11th.  Game Time in Independence is set for 2:00 pm.
