Raven Women Put Exclamation Point on Regular Season, Defeat #9 Butler 82-71

Coffeyville, Kan. - The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's basketball team ended the regular season in style, defeating the #9 ranked Butler Grizzlies 82-71.  The win caps off a 14-6 regular-season record for the Ravens including a 13-6 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) record.  The 13-6 conference mark places the Ravens in third place in the seven-team KJCCC East division.  Butler will win the KJCCC East with an 18-2 conference record.  Notable for the Ravens is that #9 Butler's only two losses on the season came at the hands of the Red Ravens who swept them in the season series.

Coffeyville's TEAM is what ended up being the difference in this one.  The shooting stats for the game were about even, Ravens shot 42% while the Grizzlies shot 40%.  Other stats went both ways, Butler won the rebounding margin 40-31, Coffeyville won the turnover margin 14-19.  However, the one stat that seemed to sum up the game was bench points, Coffeyville had 31! while Butler had 17.  A positive fourteen points from the Ravens bench in an eleven-point win.  That was your ball game.

The bulk of those bench points came from freshman reserve guard Makenzie Davis who managed a career-high 17 points on 6/11 shooting (54%) including 5/9 (55%) from behind the three-point line.  Another Raven freshman, guard Amiya Josey also had a good night going for 14 points on 6/12 shooting (50%) including 2/8 (25%) from behind the arc.

Next up for the Ravens will be the Region VI/KJCCC Championship Tournament.  The exact pairings are still left to be decided, however, Coffeyville has earned the right to host a first-round game on Monday, April 5th.  The exact team the Ravens will play and tipoff time are still left to be decided.
