Fourth Quarter Comeback Capped Off by Scott's 3 Ball Pushes Raven Women's Basketball Over Garden 50-48

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team went on the road and defeated the Garden City Broncbusters 50-48.  The win moves the Red Raven's overall record to 3-1 and 2-1 in Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) play.

The game started slowly with Coffeyville jumping out early and taking a 10-6 first-quarter lead.  However, the Broncbusters answered in the second quarter to take a slim 24-23 advantage into halftime. The third quarter saw Garden City extend their lead to eight points and at the 8:50 mark of the fourth quarter, the Broncbusters were up by ten, 42-32.  From that point on the Red Ravens mounted their comeback.  Over the next eight minutes of game time, Coffeyville was able to pull within one point at 47-48.  After a key block by Raven sophomore Faith Simpson and a defensive rebound by Tynica Gilmore, the Ravens called a timeout with six seconds left in the game.  Coffeyville head coach Tony Turner drew an inbounds play to free up Raven freshman sharpshooter Paige Scott.  The play ran to perfection and Scott drilled the three-pointer to put Coffeyville up by two points 50-48.  With two seconds left, Garden City managed a wild three-point shot that fell well short and the Ravens had the victory.

Coffeyville stat leaders for the game include;

Faith Simpson with 11 points
Freshman Amiya Josey with 9 points
Freshmen Martina Aeschliman, Nakia Cullom, and Devin Wright all with 6 points each

Coffeyville returns home this Saturday, Feb 6th with a home tilt with the Saints of Seward County.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
