Red Raven Kyleigh Ortiz Pours in 27 Points as Coffeyville Defeats Garden City 80-59

Coffeyville, Kan. - In their second game of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) season, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team defeated the Broncbusters of Garden City 80-59.  With the victory, the Red Ravens' 2022-23 overall record improves to 6-2 including a nice 2-0 start to the KJCCC season.

Coffeyville's hot shooting continued in this game as the Red Ravens shot 51% overall against the Broncbusters and a sizzling 65% from the 3-point line.  Coffeyville's defense limited Garden City to an overall shooting percentage of 34% and a poultry 20% from behind the arc.

Coffeyville started the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back.  The Red Ravens outscored Garden City in the first three quarters and were only outscored by two points in the fourth quarter when Coffeyville's bench players were getting valuable minutes of experience.

Red Raven freshman guard Kyleigh Ortiz was absolutely sensational against Garden City scoring a game-high 27 points on 7/11 3-pointers.  Through the first two KJCCC conference games, Ortiz currently leads the KJCCC in points per game (26 pts), 3-pointers per game (7), and 3-point percentage (60.9).

Sophomore guard Kennady Roach contributed 14 points to the Red Raven victory and sophomore Cheyenne Banks had a team-high 6 rebounds along with freshman Tetona Woods-Blackowl leading the team with 11 assists.

Coffeyville will play two games over the Thanksgiving week starting with a trip to Dodge City Kansas to play the Conquistadors of Dodge City Community College on Tuesday night, November 22nd.  Tip-off in Dodge City is scheduled for 5:30 pm.  The second game of the week will have the Red Ravens traveling to Colby Community College in Colby Kansas on Saturday, November 26th.  Game time in Colby is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
