In a Tight Fourth Quarter, Raven Women Hold On to Edge Colby 49-47

Through Covid quarantine and lack of practice time, the Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Women's Basketball Team was impressive in their 49-47 home victory over the Colby Trojans. The win improves Coffeyville's overall record to 4-2 and 3-2 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) standings.  The Ravens are currently tied with Cloud County for third in the seven-team Eastern KJCCC standings.

With little practice over the last couple of weeks due to quarantine issues, the Red Ravens were notably rusty in their Thursday night tilt against the Trojans.  However, in a tight fourth quarter, Coffeyville was able to rely on their early-season experience and gut out their second two-point victory of the year (February 3rd, 50-48 victory at Garden City).  In this game, the Ravens were able to score the final four points to take the 49-47 lead combined with a crucial last-second defensive block shot from Raven freshman Devin Wright to seal the victory.

Sophomore center Faith Simpson led the Ravens with a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double.  Freshman guard Paige Scott pitched in another 10 points.

Coffeyville will return to action this Saturday, February 20th with a road game to Dodge City Kansas to face the 2-5 Conquistadors.  Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
