Red Raven Softball Earn Home Victories Over Carl Albert

The Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Softball team earned two home victories this past weekend beating Carl Albert State College 7-5 and 6-5.  With the two victories, the Red Raven's 2020 overall record moves to 2-8 on the season.

With construction at their home field (Byers Field), this doubleheader was played on the Oklahoma Union High School fields in South Coffeyville OK.  The Red Raven Softball team would like to say "Thank-You" to the Oklahoma Union school district for allowing them to use their field.

Game #1

Game #1 saw the Ravens jump out early on the Vikings of Carl Albert with an early 2-0 lead after the first inning and a 5-0 lead midway through the third inning.  The Ravens gave up four runs in the bottom of the third but scored two in the top of the fourth inning which enabled them to hang on for the 7-5 victory.

Offensively, the Ravens scored 7 runs on 10 hits.  Freshman third baseman Addison Beck (Salina OK) went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Ravens with freshman left fielder Tyra Owl (Stilwell OK) and freshman first baseman Aryiel Herrera each going 2 for 4.

Raven sophomore Brittany Wilkins (Claremore OK) was on the mound for Coffeyville pitching 7 innings allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Game #2

Game #2 was all about the long ball for the Ravens.  Third baseman Addison Beck, freshman center fielder Madison Tadrus (Owasso OK), and freshman right fielder Phynix Coleman (Muskogee OK) all hit home runs for Coffeyville in the 6-5 victory.  Beck and Tadrus each had 2 RBI's each along with Coleman and Brittany Wilkens both getting a single RBI.

Raven freshman Regan Dry (Jay OK) went the full 7 innings on the mound allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits while striking out 1 and walking 2.

 

Coffeyville (2-8) will return to action on Thursday, March 12th with a home doubleheader scheduled against Hesston College (7-11).  Game times are set for 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
