Jekyll and Hyde Day for Red Raven Softball

Bartlesville, Okla. - The Red Ravens softball team was the tale of two teams in their doubleheader versus OKWU JV. In the first game, the Ravens were unable to keep the Eagles hitters from reaching base. Throw in a couple of defensive miscues and you have the recipe for getting spread 12-2 in five innings, in game one.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Justina Raye attempted to right the ship when she threw a complete game in the circle for the Red Ravens. Raye gave the Ravens every chance to win the game, limiting the OKWU Eagles to only six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out five. But alas, defensive miscues put the Ravens down 3-2 going into the top of the 7th.

The Ravens challenged to tie or win in the top of the seventh in game two. Justina Raye led off the inning with a single, followed by a single by freshman Lainey Hartman and sophomore Jadyn Clark. Two well-struck balls found the gloves of an Eagle defender and the Ravens fell short.

The Red Ravens are 0-4 on the year and are working to put it all together.   Coffeyville will return to the field on Thursday, February 16th as they travel to Wilburton Oklahoma to play the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers.
