Meredith Smith Takes Over as Head Coach for Red Raven Softball

Coffeyville Community College Athletics announces the hiring of Meredith Smith as the new Head Softball Coach.

Coach Smith arrives at Coffeyville after spending a couple of years as the owner/operator of Intensity Athletics KC in Kansas City.  Through her business, Smith developed and trained athletes and teams in the sports of baseball and softball.

Prior to her opening her own training academy, Smith spent 13 years (2007-2019) as the head softball coach at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. 

Coach Smith ranks first at UMKC in total wins (265).  The 2011 UMKC team coached by Smith ranks first in team history with a total of 36 wins.  Smith also earned the 2011 Summit League Coach of the Year.  All total, Smith had eight 20+ win seasons while at UMKC.

From 2004-2006 Coach Smith served as the Director of Softball Operations at the University of Tennessee.  

As a student-athlete, Smith played collegiately at Centre College in Danville, Ky., in 2000. During that season, she tied an NCAA record for most doubles in a single game with five, picked up all-conference honors, and earned a league player of the week award. She then spent one semester at East Tennessee State before transferring to UT, where she was involved with the Panhellenic Council of Pi Beta Phi and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Smith graduated cum laude from Tennessee in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She also holds her master’s degree in sports psychology with a minor in sports management.
